About Joe Clark
Author • Historian • Funeral Director / Embalmer (Ret.) • Paranormal Investigator • Herbalist • Kentucky Colonel & Weather Spotter • Minister
Joe Clark is a Kentucky-based author, historian, and creative entrepreneur whose work centers on preserving truth, honoring legacy, and documenting the stories others overlook.
Born and raised in Rowan County in the foothills of Northeastern Kentucky, Joe’s Appalachian roots deeply influence his writing. His books explore regional history, true crime, cultural memory, funeral service, herbal wellness, artificial intelligence, and the often-uncomfortable realities woven into local and national narratives. With more than 50 published titles—and many more in development—his work reflects a lifelong commitment to research, integrity, and storytelling with purpose.
Before dedicating himself fully to writing and publishing, Joe spent over 21 years as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Serving families during their most difficult moments shaped his understanding of legacy, mortality, and the weight of untold stories. Though retired from active funeral service, he continues to educate others about the profession and advocates for transparency and reform within the industry.
Joe’s path into historical research began in an unlikely place—paranormal investigation. As a Certified Ghost Hunter and former member of Ghost Chasers International, he was once recognized among the Top 20 Paranormal Investigators in the world and one of the Top 5 male investigators. While many were drawn to the unexplained, Joe became captivated by the documented history behind the hauntings. That curiosity led him from the supernatural into archives, court records, forgotten newspapers, and ultimately into authorship.
In addition to his writing, Joe is an ordained minister, a certified herbalist through both the Lost Remedies Academy and the Royal Certified MasterClass, and the founder of Hills & Hollers Herbal. He is also a professional wrestling promoter dedicated to preserving old-school traditions in modern independent wrestling. A certified weather spotter for the National Weather Service and a recipient of the Kentucky Colonel— the Commonwealth’s highest honor for noteworthy achievement and service—Joe remains actively engaged in his community.
Through books, media, publishing projects, and advocacy, Joe’s mission is simple:
To document hard truths.
To preserve Appalachian history.
To protect creators.
To honor the forgotten.
One story at a time.
